The Stowaway: A Celtic Musical Journey was presented on Friday, July 28 at the Casgrain Theatre of John Abbott College, in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.

The evening of Celtic music performed by acclaimed Montreal Celtic Folk/Rock Group, Mariner’s Curse and Scottish musician Craig Weir. Mariner’s Curse features Ron Jenkins on keyboards and vocals, Rocky Dalonzo on guitar and vocals, Jonathan Moorman on violin and vocals with percussionist Thierry Arsenault. Craig Weir, is an innovative Scottish virtuoso piper and songwriter.

Lesley Head Benefit

Much of the proceeds of the Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue concert of The Stowaway are going to benefit Lesley Head who graduated from John Abbott College Theatre Program in 2007 but was severely injured in a skiing accident in April 2016.  Lesley has been left quadriplegic with huge physical and financial obstacles.

Mariner’s Curse, formed from the bubbling cauldron of several previous bands, features Celtic and Canadiana music with tightly knit counterpoint and multi-part harmonies. Thierry Arsenault, on percussion, imparts a deep seated knowledge of time, meter and space with his precision drumming. Rocky Dalonzo, on guitar, has been a mainstay of the Montreal music scene for many years and his soaring tenor caps our vocal sound. Ron Jenkins, on keyboards, infuses the music with counter melodies and classical voicings and is the glue that fuses the band’s sound. Alex Kehler, on fiddle and cittern is an eclectic musician, mastering a wide variety of musical disciplines for his own distinctive sound. Jonathan Moorman, on fiddle and guitar, powers his instruments with raw emotive energy, delivering an amazing connection to the music.
