Styx concert images from the first show of the Canadian leg of their tour at the Trois-Rivières en Blues Festival.
STYX CONCERT
The Styx concert line up included original veterans Tommy Shaw and James Young, with original bassist Chuck Panozzo sitting in on a few songs. The band was rounded out by bassist Ricky Phillips, drummer Todd Sucherman and Canadian keyboardist Gowan (Lawrence Gowan). While on tour, they are playing a few selected tracks from their new CD “The Mission” and they included “Gone Gone Gone”, “Khedive” and “Radio Silence”. They blasted through many of their classic songs in the setlist featuring “Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)”, “The Grand Illusion”, “Lady”, “Crystal Ball” and the James Young fan favourite “Suite Madame Blue”. Gowan also played “A Criminal Mind”, which is a crowd favourite in concert.
I got to photograph the band on 2 consecutive nights in 2 different cities and on completely different size stages. The one common denominator was the energy and superb performance of these veteran musicians and their attention to keeping the audience entertained!
